About the VOS

Established in 1946, the Vancouver Orchid Society (VOS) promotes the cultivation and the education of orchids. Spreading the cultural knowledge and propagation of these magnificent plants is one of the society’s goals. Lectures, workshops, presentations and exhibitions are some of the activities society members enjoy throughout the year. Local, national and international guest speakers visit and share their experiences during the society’s agenda of events. Our monthly show table awards encourages members to bring in their blooming beauties for discussion of their cultivation and parentage.

The Society also issues a monthly newsletter, “Orchiflora” (available both in printed and pdf formats) to members filled with specific orchid alliance information and growing tips.

Orchid plants ranging from seedlings to mature divisions are for sale at every meeting. Library resources are available. We welcome new members to share our appreciation for this incredible plant family!

Society Meeting information

Meeting Place: Floral Hall, VanDusen Botanical Garden, 37th & Oak Street, Vancouver.
Plant Sales: Start at 6:30pm. Members only.
Culture Class: Start at 6:30pm. Members only.
Meeting Time: Monthly at 7:30pm, fourth Wednesday except July, August and December (which is moved to early Chrismas party in November).

AOS Judging Site

The site is located at 7140 Miller Rd in Richmond (see map). Please bring any of your orchids that you would like to have judged to the above location by 12 NOON. Judging will be held at this location the second Saturday of every month of the year.
